Why it matters

Newark, New Jersey leases vacant lots to residents for $1 a year through its Adopt-a-Lot program, and Baltimore grants free, revocable licenses — neither sells the land. Brown County, Wisconsin has run community gardens through its Extension office since 1996: 13 gardens and 386 plots. We ask Izard County to let residents garden unused county land under a simple revocable license.

What’s happened

Raised by residents — not yet carried to the county.

This is a petition to your elected officials — like the clipboard at the courthouse door. It does not put anything on the ballot; in Arkansas and most states that takes ink signatures from registered voters. Signatures are counted, not verified — one per browser; the delivered copy removes duplicates. Like everything here, petitions can’t campaign for candidates or ballot measures, or name county staff.
